im taking an autobody repair and paint class. .and ive used both glaze and bondo.. . .in paint we use glaze and in body we use bondo they both do the same thing right . . .is it that the glaze is lighter than the filler or is there another reason why they are different. . just want to know
The glaze is sort of thick primer. I have seen the stuff shrink and crack and don’t use it.
I use the "finish" type bondo that comes in a smaller can. You can put it over primer.
It sands easier than bondo and is works great.

after you’re done with the main repair, you should apply a coat of metal glaze. it’s thinner and won’t pinhole if applied properly. you also sand it with a finer grit paper resulting in a smoother repair that gives you a better feel of your work. it is also less porous so the primer works better with it and you’ll have an easier time blocking the primer and getting it ready to paint. even when i think my repair is perfect, i still apply a coat of glaze before priming.

glazing is mostly for scratches and rough spots and body putty is for patching holes, but you can use body putty for glazing if you wish, i have.
